![]() ![]() My personal american escorts containing: 6 escort-carriers, 4 DD and 4 PT (if the PTs and Escortcarriers get unhappy, you'll get a speedproblem) Only use smaller vessels in your escort fleet. This happens because fleets get slower if they are unhappy. If so the Escort runs slower and is perhaps no more able to follow the convoy because the convoy runs faster. If you attach a fleet to another with the shildsymbol, the escort runs in front of the protected fleet, before it gets into the port and automaticly refills ammo/full/rations before the protected fleet reaches the harbor.īEWARE: that the escort doesn't run into an empty port and get no supplies. Merge smaller convoys before you start to build Escortfleets for your convoys. This convoy I use if I want to start Island hopping or have a stockproblem in the ports that are far from the frontline and are in need of supplies. This convoy contains more air-fuel and ammo (except shells) than all other convoys. This reserve convoy contains in lategame all of the oilers and cheaper transportships from the beginnig of the campaign that have survieved so far (last game around 100 vessels). They can transport everything and you don't need much of these convoys. I replace the old US convoys with each 50 ships of the newer and faster cargoships (75 warbonds each = 3750 warbonds in total). Portland-Cruiser: very fast and well protected DD-Hunter (in my opinion the best/fastest of the "small" US units)Ībove mentioned is a "reserve" convoy. ![]() Some (8?)AA Destroyers and a Portland cruiser are very value to have as a "Defending Force" in a Port that is under permanent attacks of smaller fleets to save airplane-fuel and ammo. These tips came into my mind by playing my last american campaign. ![]()
